MEC 200 - AC/DC Machines


Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is a study of applications, operations, and construction of AC and DC machines. Generators, AC/DC motors, and alternators are wired and tested for proper functionality.

Prerequisite(s): MEC 102 , MEC 110 , and MEC 130 .

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Apply electrical safety in the lab and demonstrate an understanding of the electrical safety standards.
  2. Analyze three phase circuits electrical properties through calculations and verify with measurements.
  3. Identify Single Phase Motor characteristics and verify with measurements in the lab.
  4. Identify Three Phase Motor characteristics and verify with measurements in the lab.
  5. Analyze various transformer configurations and verify with lab observations.
