MEC 200 - AC/DC Machines Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Description: This course is a study of applications, operations, and construction of AC and DC machines. Generators, AC/DC motors, and alternators are wired and tested for proper functionality.
Prerequisite(s): MEC 102 , MEC 110 , and MEC 130 . Course Topics:

- Ohm’s Law
- Three Phase Power
- AC Motors
- DC Motors
- Transformers

Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply electrical safety in the lab and demonstrate an understanding of the electrical safety standards.
- Analyze three phase circuits electrical properties through calculations and verify with measurements.
- Identify Single Phase Motor characteristics and verify with measurements in the lab.
- Identify Three Phase Motor characteristics and verify with measurements in the lab.
- Analyze various transformer configurations and verify with lab observations.
