MEC 211 - Programmable Logic Controllers II Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Description: This course covers the application of programmable logic controller theories and operation procedures. Topics such as interfacing data manipulation and report generation are covered. Programmable controller projects are constructed, operated, and tested.
Prerequisite(s): MEC 102 , MEC 110 , MEC 130 , and MEC 210 . Course Topics:
- Safety Controller Functionality
- Designing Input/Output Files (I/O)
- Writing Data Files Use Timer/Counter Functions to manipulate programming
- Troubleshooting

Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Analyze the components of a programmable controller.
- Illustrate the steps required to load a ladder type program onto a programmable controller.
- Evaluate the use of timers and counters in a program.
- Write programs using data manipulation instructions.
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot using a PLC
